Treatment For Shingles - Shingles Pain Relief

By admin On May 4, 2009 Under Uncategorized

Shingles can cause a lot of pain, both at the time of having the shingles outbreak as well as after the shingles has gone away. The latter is known as postherpetic neuralgia, and can span for periods of time lasting up to a few years. It’s not easy to constantly live with this postherpetic neuralgia pain, so it is lucky some treatments for the pain have become available.

These treatments can be in the form of creams and medications. Many people claim to have treatments that work. I am not able to say from experience whether these work or not as I am still young and have not yet had a case of the shingles. However, the most common and popular shingles treatment is an antiviral drug, Zovirax, which lessens the pace at which the varicella zoster virus is able to spread.

As with all things, I recommend you see your doctor before taking any medications or using any creams, as well as ask them for advice. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Other treatments on the market are this natural shingles remedy, Terrasil, Heal Shingles, Famvir, and Valtrex. As I said earlier, I personally have not been able to test any of these shingles treatments. However, they are on the market so I thought I would list them here for your convenience.
